Your load list, made simple

Essentials first

1. Decide what stays on

Walk through each room and list the equipment you want during an outage. Separate essential equipment from items you can switch off.

Good to know Make two lists: the minimum you need and the fuller setup you would like.

Quantities matter

2. Count appliances used together

Count lights, fans, televisions, refrigeration, air conditioners and other loads that will operate at the same time.

Good to know A spare appliance in storage is different from a second appliance running.

Use input watts

3. Check the equipment labels

The tool uses example ratings, with optional wattage adjustments. Replace examples with your equipment’s electrical input where known.

Good to know A photograph of the rating label can help when discussing the requirement.

Before you order

4. Review the estimate with JMG

The result is an estimate, not an exact measurement or approved model. Ask JMG to confirm startup loads, phase, duty and site conditions.

Good to know Keep your appliance list with the quotation so the proposed setup is clear.

A useful question to send with your enquiry

Describe where the generator will be used, which appliances must run together, how long you expect to use it and any equipment you plan to add. Include your location and photographs of relevant equipment labels. That gives the supplier a clearer starting point than asking for a generator for a “three-bedroom house” alone.

Compare the complete proposal

When you receive a quotation, check the generator model, included installation work, delivery, commissioning, maintenance and warranty. Ask who will confirm the connection arrangement and what must be ready at your site. Keep the agreed equipment list alongside the proposal so changes can be discussed before ordering.
